Week 1 NFL Injury Report

The Week 1 NFL injury report saw some major set backs for a few franchises that could see big time stars miss significant time this season.

NFL Week 1 Injury Report a Big Talking Point

One of the big names from the NFL Week 1 injury report is Nick Foles. While he may not be considered a big time star outside of the Philadelphia area, Foles is a former Super Bowl MVP. That is one the reasons the Jacksonville Jaguars game him a big time contract. Instead he lasted less than a quarter after suffering a broken clavicle. The injury happened on a 35-yard touchdown throw. On the play, defensive tackle Chris Jones took Foles to the ground and he appeared to land awkwardly on his shoulder.

It’s a huge blow for a Jaguars team that has spent the last few seasons not living up to expectations. They finally decided to end the Blake Bortles era and there was a sense of hope around the franchise coming into this year. According to the Jaguars, there is no timetable for Foles’ return.

Tyreek Hill Injures His Clavicle Too

Nick Foles wasn’t the only week 1 NFL injury casualty. Just a few days after signing a three-year extension, star wide receiver Tyreek Hill suffered a clavicle injury in the same game as Foles and did not return. While his injury does not appear to be as bad as Nick Foles, it is serious enough that the team is weighing its options. What is certain is that Tyreek Hill will be out of action for at least a few weeks.

The Chiefs offense didn’t seem to miss a beat in his absence. Hill’s injury happened late in the 1st quarter with his team leading 10-7. He did not return but that did not slow down the NFL’s number one offense. The Chiefs still put up another 30 points in Hill’s absence. If the rest of the NFL thought they were catching a break with Hill’s injury, it seems like they were wrong.

Patrick Mahomes Could Have Mobility Issues

It looks like reigning league MVP Patrick Mahomes is yet another big name on the week 1 NFL injury report. Mahomes suffered a high ankle sprain in this game. While he did return right away and finished the game, he was limping around. He also wasn’t stepping into his throws but because of his incredible arm strength, he was able to get away with it. His mobility over the coming weeks will be something to look out for.

The Rest of the Week 1 NFL Injury Report

Baker Mayfield was terrible in his team’s home loss to the Titans and it appears he suffered a wrist injury. X-rays came back negative and reports says it’s just a bruise. It seems like he suffered the injury when he was sacked in the end zone for a safety. He did say after the game that he will be fine.

Jets middle linebacker C.J Mosley was having a great debut with his new team. He had a pick six and a fumble recovery before suffering a groin injury in the 4th quarter. He did not return and could miss some time as a result. The Jets also lost their first round pick Quinnen Williams to an ankle injury. The Jets have not released any time table concerning both injuries.
