Game Preview

The Renegades’ offensive box score isn’t very impressive. Drew Plitt threw for just 172 yards with one interception and nobody on offense scored a touchdown. Deveon Smith led the running attack with 42 yards on 15 carries, and Sal Cannella led the Renegades in receiving with seven catches for 70 yards.

However, Arlington had two pick-sixes in the game: One by Tomasi Laulile and the other by De Vante Bausby. Bausby’s came in the fourth quarter and ruined any chance Vegas had of making a comeback.

The Roughnecks looked like the best team in the XFL in Week 1. They scored 33 points — the most of the opening weekend. Brandon Silvers threw for 272 yards with two scores and two interceptions.

Max Borghi led the rushing attack with eight carries for 42 yards and one score. Former USC star Deontay Burnett made his plays with a team-high eight catches for 90 yards and one eye-popping touchdown grab.

Prediction

Having a veteran coach such as Wade Phillips paid dividends for the Roughnecks in Week 1, and all three phases were playing well against the Guardians. The Renegades did get the win, but the offense did not impress much. If it weren’t for a pair of pick-sixes, they would also be winless coming into this content.

The Roughnecks have a lot of experience on the field and sideline, and they get another home win to begin the XFL season 2-0.
