The college basketball season is in full swing! Let’s preview the upcoming blue blood battle between the Gonzaga Bulldogs and the Kentucky Wildcats. Gonzaga needs an upset to stay on the tournament bubble.

Preview
Gonzaga finds itself in a peculiar position. After receiving a 1-seed in 4 of the last 6 NCAA tournaments, they’re barely projected a double-digit seed this year. Many projections have the Bulldogs expected to miss the field entirely. It would be their first time missing the tournament since 1998. Even so, they still have plenty of chances to earn the wins needed to make it, starting with this important game at Kentucky.
Kentucky has had a rough go of it recently. They went 1-3 in the 4 games leading up to Tuesday’s win over Vanderbilt, hurting both their AP ranking and tournament seed projection. The Wildcats are still expected to land well within the field of 68, but suddenly find themselves in 5th place in the SEC. They’ll rely on leading scorer Antonio Reeves to provide the offense against a Gonzaga team that cannot be overlooked.
Prediction
Both of these teams have been struggling lately, making this matchup more unpredictable. That being said, Kentucky should still have a clear advantage in this game. It isn’t the same premier matchup as years past, with Gonzaga in a transition year after sending players like Chet Holmgren and Jalen Suggs to the NBA. I expect Gonzaga to score a decent amount of points, but ultimately come up well short on the road.
