Virginia Tech has had an excellent past few weeks. They handed NC State their first defeat of the season, and then carried that momentum into a triumphant win over Miami. The Hokies are currently 1-2 against ranked teams, but with all three opponents ranking in the top-10. They’ll get a somewhat less difficult test here against #21 Florida State. Senior C Elizabeth Kitley continues to be a dominant force in the paint.

Florida State bounced back from a tough OT loss to NC State with a road win over Clemson and an upset of #20 North Carolina. The Seminoles have been tough to pin down this season, after close games with some top teams as well as some mediocre ones. They haven’t lost at home since November, but will need to be at their best to continue that streak. G Ta’Niya Latson’s perimeter scoring ability will be crucial here.

Prediction

It’s very difficult to win on the road in college basketball, especially against top-tier competition. That being said, Florida State has already lost a couple of home games this season, and is more vulnerable on their home court than many others. On the other hand, they’re also playing their best basketball of the season lately. Ultimately, I see the more consistent Hokies coming away with a major top-25 road victory.
