  • Clemson was on their bye last week, after defeating Wake Forest in Week 6.
  • Miami came up short at North Carolina on Saturday, losing by a score of 41-31.
  • These two teams last met on November 19, 2022, in a game Clemson won 40-10.

The college football season is in full swing. Let’s preview the upcoming Clemson vs Miami ACC matchup. Both of these teams have fallen out of the top-25 rankings, seeking a signature win to get back on track.

Preview

Clemson has now been unranked for a few weeks, and is trying to fight their way back into the top-25. They are held back by their 4-2 record, but both losses came against top-16 teams, providing them with a realistic chance to return to the mix if they keep winning. This week’s game against Miami is a good test before even tougher games against Notre Dame and UNC. The Tigers need their offense to heat back up.

Miami fell to 0-2 in ACC play, and finds themselves unranked once again. Their Week 2 thumping of Texas A&M created some hope that the Hurricanes may finally be contenders again, but their collapse against Georgia Tech two weeks ago ended that momentum. They need to avoid a 3rd straight ACC loss against Clemson this week. The defense will be tested once again, after allowing the Tar Heels to score 41 points.

Prediction

Clemson is a sleeping giant right now. Their Week 1 loss to Duke was bad, but can be partially chalked up to opening week inconsistencies. Since then, the Tigers have gone 4-1, with the loss being by just 7 points to #4 Florida State. On the other hand, they didn’t look terribly impressive against Wake Forest before the bye. I believe Clemson is on the come up, and I’m fading on Miami. I’ll definitely take Clemson to win here.
