Notre Dame bounced back from their defeat against Ohio State with a road win over Duke last week. The Fighting Irish remain in CFP contention at 5-1. They’ll have an opportunity to add an additional key win this week, as well as in upcoming weeks against USC and Clemson. Notre Dame’s offense cooled off quite a bit over the last two weeks. Sam Hartman went just 15 of 30 for 222 yards and 0 TDs in the win over Duke.

Louisville climbed into the top-25 after improving to 5-0 on the season. They escaped a tough road game against NC State with a 13-10 victory, continuing to exceed expectations. That being said, the Cardinals have not faced the toughest competition this season. One score victories over Georgia Tech, Indiana, and NC State aren’t that encouraging. This week will provide a true test of Louisville’s ability to beat top teams.

Prediction

This will be a very interesting test for both teams. Notre Dame has not been winning as confidently since their schedule toughened, and will be seeking a signature performance to get back on track. Meanwhile, Louisville will be attempting to avoid a blowout loss, and prove to the world that they are a legitimate top-25 team this year. Ultimately, I see Notre Dame winning this game pretty easily, and improving to 5-1.
