Preview

Syracuse took their first loss of the season against Clemson last week, falling 31-14. Despite the defeat, the Orange are still only two wins away from reaching a bowl game for the 3rd time in the last 10 years. Their next two games are the toughest on their schedule, with Syracuse facing both #5 Florida State and #14 UNC on the road. 5th-year QB Garrett Shrader will be aiming to bounce back against the Tar Heels.

North Carolina had a full week to rest up and prepare for this game against Syracuse. The Tar Heels have a favorable upcoming schedule, with 5 of their next 6 games coming at home. If they run the tables, they could meet Florida State or Louisville in the ACC title game with a 12-0 record. QB Drake Maye is currently projected to be the #2-overall pick in the draft, and will aim to continue his excellence against the Orange.

Prediction

The Tar Heels opened the season ranked and have climbed into the top-15 after starting 4-0, but their largest win was by 18 points. That’s not bad at all, but it does fall well short of the country’s top teams. They’ll face a good test here against a solid Syracuse team that will be fighting to rebound from their loss to Clemson. I see North Carolina winning it, but by another relatively modest score, despite being at home.
