  • These two teams last met on October 29, 2022, in a game TCU won 41-31.

The college football season is in full swing! Let’s take a look at the upcoming West Virginia vs TCU game.

Preview

West Virginia improved to 3-1 last week after beating Texas Tech. Since losing a tough matchup at Penn State in Week 1, the Mountaineers have played well, especially on defense. They blew out FCS Duquesne in Week 2, and then outscored Pitt and Texas Tech 37-20 after that. QB Nicco Marchiol struggled again, completing 12 of 21 passes for 78 yards, 1 TD, and 2 INTs. They need him to bounce back against TCU.

TCU looked solid in Week 4, handling business against SMU and winning 34-17. Like West Virginia, the Horned Frogs have now won three straight games after losing their opener. They’ve outscored the opposition 101-36 in those three games. TCU’s offense replaced it’s starting QB, RB, C and top two WRs this year. The new offense has had some time to mesh, and the Horned Frogs seem to be back on the rise.

Prediction

Both of these teams are on three game winning streaks, increasing the intrigue in this matchup. With difficult Big-12 schedules ahead of them, each will be aiming to start conference play with a win and improve to 4-1. West Virginia’s only loss came against a top-6 team, but they also played a close game against Texas Tech last week. I see TCU winning this game without much trouble, but they may not cover.
