Raiders vs Jets Prediction: Take the Over and Back the Jets to End Their Slump
A potentially pivotal AFC matchup lies ahead this weekend, with both the Raiders (3-4) and the Jets (2-5) in need of a win to keep themselves alive in the playoff race.
The Raiders are on a four-game losing streak after a 3-0 start, while any promising signs for the Jets were squashed as they lost to the previously winless Dolphins in Week 7.
You can see all of our NFL Week 8 expert picks; however, let’s dive into why I’m backing the Jets to pick up the home victory here, and how you can bet on the Raiders vs. Jets.

Game Preview
The Raiders have 4 straight losses, giving up 30+ points each time. Now, this is something even the 6th-best offense in the league can’t cover up. Kirk Cousins leads the NFL with 16 passing touchdowns, but that’s partly down to an underperforming rushing attack.
RB Ashton Jeanty recorded just 328 yards on the ground, for one touchdown. The Raiders run for 74.7 yards per game, the second worst in the league. Also, they defend the run game poorly, allowing 143.6 rushing yards, 30th in the NFL.
The Jets suffered two straight losses against divisional rivals. They first lost to the Pats on the road, 26-19, then to the Dolphins at home, 28-25.
Geno Smith threw 3 TD passes but also one interception, which ultimately proved to be the difference. Overall, the Jets played solid football, but that one mistake cost them the win. The offense is too sluggish to be anything better than a 2-5 record, while the defense has the potential to be among the top-10 units.
Raiders vs. Jets Predictions
It can be hard to pick between two bad teams, so often home advantage is the kicker in these situations. The Raiders put up points, but they also keep finding ways to lose. With that in mind, the over looks like the totals play, and I’m taking the Jets for both the moneyline and the spread.
The Raiders have conceded 30+ in four straight, the Jets have hit 19 and 25 in their last two, and Las Vegas can match that, so 44.5 looks low.
- Best bet: Over 44.5 (-110)
- Raiders vs Jets spread pick: Jets -1.5 (-110)
- Raiders vs Jets moneyline pick: Jets (-115)
