Team News

Game three in the Stanley Cup finals takes place on Thursday, and there will be immediate pressure on the Florida Panthers to respond. Defeat in the game on Thursday will leave them with a mountain to climb, and the Stanley Cup series could be settled as early as game four on Saturday evening.

The Panthers have struggled in both games that they have played in Vegas to this point, as they have lost by a commanding margin in both games one and two. There were brushed aside in game two on Monday evening, as the Golden Knights scored a remarkable seven in front of their home fans.

Vegas scored twice in each of the opening two periods, with the Panthers unable to find the net until the final frame. However, even then, the Golden Knights managed to outscore their rivals by a 3-2 margin to eventually secure a 7-2 success at the T-Mobile Arena.

Jonathan Marchessault was excellent in game two, as the star scored twice and registered two assists. Michael Amadio also scored for Vegas, while Brett Howden ended the night with two goals. Anton Lundell and Matthew Tkachuk scored in response for the Panthers. Alex Lyon allowed three goals from 15 shots, while Sergei Bobrovsky allowed four goals from 13 shots.

Picks

This Stanley Cup finals series is looking less and less like a contest that could run to the latter stages. The confidence of the two Panthers goalies will be shattered coming into game three, and we find it extremely challenging to overlook the Golden Knights taking a 3-0 series advantage.
