The Stanley Cup finals have been reignited following a dramatic win for the Florida Panthers in overtime on Thursday evening. It was a must-win game for the Panthers, and they claimed a crucial success at FLA Live Arena. The victory means that they could now level the series against the Vegas Golden Knights this weekend.

The pressure was really on the Panthers ahead of game three, as a victory for the Golden Knights would have put them within one victory of securing the Stanley Cup, and a potential whitewash. However, the Panthers have shown throughout their run to this stage of the Stanley Cup that they have the quality and character to come back from damning positions.

That was evident once again in game three, as the Golden Knights led 2-1 after the opening two periods. However, the Panthers responded in the final period by leveling the clash, before netting the winning goal in the overtime period to stun their Stanley Cup rivals.

Matthew Tkachuk was in excellent form in front of goal for the Panthers, as he netted once from three shots on target. The other goals for Florida were scored by Carter Verhaeghe and Brandon Montour. Meanwhile, it was a good night in the net for Sergei Bobrovsky, who ended the game with a save percentage of .926.

It certainly felt like a missed opportunity for the Golden Knights, as they could have moved within one victory of Stanley Cup glory. However, victory on Saturday would mean that they could get their hands on the illustrious trophy at the T-Mobile Arena next week.
