Game Preview
As we rightly predicted, Inter Miami lost to FC Cincinnati in the previous round. It’s really no surprise given that coach Martino was without a number of key players. The bad news for him is that pretty much the same will be the case for the Inter Miami vs. Toronto FC game.
Because their national teams reached the final four stage of the 2024 Copa America, both Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez will probably take some time to return to their club duties. In fact, it’s almost certain that both of Inter Miami’s top scorers will miss the game on July 17.
As if that wasn’t enough, the Herons will also be without Sergio Busquets and Marcelo Weigandt who are suspended. On top of everything, there are another three players on Inter Miami’s roster who are reportedly struggling with fitness.
The good news for Martino’s men is that on July 17, they’re locking horns with one of the worst teams in the 2024 MLS. Toronto FC are completely out of shape, even though this team does have some decent players on the roster.
Inter Miami vs. Toronto FC Prediction
Without Messi, Suarez, Busquets, and others, Inter Miami doesn’t look like a world-beater. Toronto FC’s players are aware of this, so they will likely go with an offensive-minded strategy on July 17 to capitalize on the situation.
Players like Federico Bernardeschi and Lorenzo Insigne will be crucial for Toronto FC. Neither has been great since coming to America, but both are undoubtedly extremely talented.
