The firm advantage coming into the second leg between the Milan giants rests with Inter. Inter was excellent in the opening leg between the sides last week, as they raced into a 2-0 advantage after eleven minutes. However, they could yet rue their missed chances against AC Milan in the first clash between the sides.
Inter has now won three of their previous clashes with AC, but they haven’t won four in a single season since 1973-74. Historical trends are also on the side of Inter for this second leg, as only one team has failed to progress from a Champions League semi-final after holding a two-goal advantage. Interestingly, Milan star Divock Origi scored in Liverpool’s dramatic turnaround against Barcelona in the 2018-19 season.

AC Milan has a huge mountain to climb in this second leg, as they must claim a 2-0 success at the San Siro to force at least extra time. The loss last week was their third straight defeat against Inter without finding the back of the net, but they have never gone four straight matches against their local rivals without scoring.
Technically this will be an away match in the Champions League for Milan. Their away form in the knockout stages has been poor, as they have landed just one win in their previous 16. That success came back in April 2007 against Bayern Munich. Meanwhile, they have scored just 15 goals in 24 away matches in knockout away fixtures in the competition.

Inter was dominant in the previous meeting between the sides last week. They can play on the counter-attack on Tuesday, and it looks incredibly hard to foresee them throwing away their advantage. A bet on Inter landing a victory looks like a solid value play.
