Match Preview
It was a reliable start to the Europa League for Lazio last week, as they claimed a comfortable victory on the road. Their chances of recording a second straight win this week will be enhanced based on their positive record against Nice after winning both clashes against their French rivals in the 2017-18 Europa League campaign.
The visitors could only start their Europa League campaign with a home draw on matchday one, meaning that they will face increased pressure to gain maximum points on Thursday. However, Nice have lost all six of their previous encounters against Italian sides, conceding a staggering 13 goals and scoring just once.

Lazio’s recent European form also deserves a lot of respect ahead of this showdown after winning each of their last three. All three of their latest home wins were secured in the Champions League last season, as they kept clean sheets in all victories. They haven’t won four on the bounce without conceding since February 2016.
You have to go back to September 2017 for Nice’s last away win in the Europa League. Since that success against Zulle Waregem, the French side have lost six successive matches on the road in the secondary European competitions. However, Lazio haven’t started with back-to-back wins in a Europa League campaign since 2017-18.
Lazio vs. Nice Picks
The trends certainly point toward the possibility of a home victory this weekend. We find it hard to oppose a victory in Rome for Lazio, as they bid to make their first perfect start to a Europa League campaign since 2017-18.
