Event Preview

Excitement levels will be high ahead of the 2023 edition of the FIFA Women’s World Cup. It will be the first senior soccer competition to be played across two confederations, with Australia and New Zealand both hosting matches throughout the tournament.

The USA will certainly be difficult to oppose in the betting, as they chase a third straight victory in the World Cup. Overall, the U.S. has won the competition on four occasions, and has finished in the top three on all eight editions. However, they come into this event with slightly more pressure on their shoulders, as they have suffered recent losses against England and Spain.

England appears to be the leading danger after winning the Women’s EUROs last summer at Wembley. The Lionesses will be guided through the tournament by experienced coach Sarina Wiegman, but they will need to rediscover their moment after their long winning run was ended by Australia in the middle of April.

Spain was the closest nation to beating England at the EUROs, and they could be massively overpriced given the injuries that the Lionesses will need to contend with. However, Spain has never previous reached the last four of a FIFA Women’s World Cup.

The host nations aren’t without a chance this year, as Australia has recorded wins over the USA, England, and Spain over the past 12 months. However, whether they can put that form together and recreate it in a tournament scenario remains to be seen.

FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 Prediction

I’d be very keen to take on the top two in the betting for the World Cup this year, as both the USA and England have big issues to address. Therefore, we could see both Australia and Spain enjoying solid campaigns, with the latter being our main pick as they have a clear route to the latter stages of the competitions.
