Liverpool picked up their first Premier League win in five games with a comprehensive thrashing of Leeds United on Monday night. Goals from Cody Gakpo, Mo Salah (2), Diogo Jota (2), and Darwin Nunez saw Jurgen Klopp’s men pick up their first victory since putting seven past Man United in March. There can be no doubt that this has been a poor season for the Reds but they remain a capable side despite their form. The return of Luis Diaz after a six-month recovery from an injury suffered in October is a huge boost to Liverpool at a time when they need all their key men firing.

Nottingham Forest could have moved clear of the relegation places with a win over Man United. Their 0-2 defeat however ensures they head into this weekend’s fixtures in 17th place. Steve Cooper’s side was lackluster against Man United, failing to register a single shot on target. On February 5, Nottingham Forest sat in 13th place in the Premier League following a win over Leeds United. They haven’t won a game since and their relegation could be a formality in a few games’ time.

Prediction

It cannot be claimed that Liverpool is back to its best, the results following the win over Man United prove that. They should have more than enough to see off the challenge of Nottingham Forest though. The pressure is growing on Steve Cooper and more should be added here.
