Preview

The Defenders completed a well-fought victory against the Renegades with a 49-yard game-winning field goal. It was the first road win of the season for DC, as they improved to 2-1 in the process. Another difficult road test is up next with this trip to face 3-0 Birmingham. QB Jordan Ta’amu completed 11 of 24 passes in the win, throwing for two TDs and no INTs on 188 yards through the air. Ta’amu also led the team in rushing with 53 yards, getting little support from the rest of the run game once again.

The Stallions improved to 3-0 following their triumphant win over Memphis. Birmingham is the last unbeaten team in the UFL, aiming to reach 4-0 in this game. They’ve overwhelmed opponents on both sides of the ball, most recently with their 33-14 thumping of the Showboats. The stakes will be high for QB Adrian Martinez in this matchup, who boasts a similar dual skill set to Ta’amu. Martinez completed 18 of 28 passes for 334 yards and two TDs in Week 3, while rushing for 44 yards and a touchdown.

Prediction

This should be an excellent matchup between two of the top teams in the UFL. Birmingham has a notable advantage as both the final undefeated team, and the home team in this game. That advantage translated into an 8-point spread in the Stallions favor. While I do expect them to claim the victory at home and improve to 4-0, I would be wary of relying on them to cover a two-score spread against a pretty solid Defenders team.

UFL Picks:

  • Stallions 29, Defenders 23 (DC +8.0)
