Game Preview

Orlando was unable to defeat the Renegades on Saturday, falling to 1-7 on the season. Any minor hopes of making a late-season playoff push, after winning their first game against the 6-0 Defenders, have now evaporated. The Guardians are officially eliminated from playoff contention, and will shift their focus to building on the positives from the past couple of weeks. They can eliminate a division rival with a win here.

The Brahmas lost in similar fashion to the Guardians last week, also falling at home by 2 points. San Antonio is technically still alive in the playoff race, but they need to finish 2-0 and have the Renegades finish 0-2 in order to have a chance at making it. With the 7-1 Defenders up next week, they need to avoid losing in a trap game against the Guardians. A loss in either game will put an end to the Brahmas season.

Picks

Both of these two teams have struggled all season long, posting a combined 3-13 record through the first 8 weeks. The advantage here definitely goes to the Brahmas, who are still playing with the motivation of their postseason hopes being alive, as well as home-field advantage. That being said, the Guardians have improved lately, and could certainly claim an upset here. I see San Antonio coming away with a 20-16 win.
