Preview
Birmingham dominated the Roughnecks last week, winning 32-9 in Houston. They will be aiming to keep their perfect season alive in a second consecutive road game this week. They’ll head to Memphis next. The Stallions bullied the Roughnecks with their running game on Saturday. Three players carried the ball a total of 32 times for 213 yards and 3 touchdowns. QB Adrian Martinez had an especially notable game, passing for 155 yards and a touchdown while also rushing for 138 yards.
Memphis came up short against the Panthers at home last week, losing 35-18. The defeat dropped the Showboats to 1-4 on the season, putting them in a tough spot. QB Troy Williams needs to bounce back after posting a 51% completion percentage with two INTs on Sunday. After allowing Michigan to jump out to a quick 13-0 lead in the 1st quarter, the Showboats had to play the rest of the game from behind. Doing so forced them to pass the ball 37 times while rushing it only 11, an poor overall gameplan.
Prediction
The Stallions are heavily favored to win this game, despite being on the road. They haven’t lost yet this season, and will be facing a struggling Showboats team. Be wary of betting on the Stallions here, though. Each week they stay undefeated increases the chances their next game will be a loss, and road games are never easy to win in professional sports. Birmingham should win this matchup, but it may be a lot closer than expected.
