One of the most exciting events on the golf schedule for 2026 gets underway in the Netherlands at the start of September, as Team USA bid to retain the Solheim Cup. The American team was dominant on home turf two years ago, recording a 15.5-12.5 victory in Virginia.
However, success on European turf has been a rarity for the American team at the Solheim Cup. In fact, the Americans have failed to win in three of the last four events that have been played in Europe. Team USA’s only win over that period was a historic 14.5-13.5 victory in Germany in 2015.
Angela Stanford has a deep roster of players to help avenge their poor recent record in Europe this year, headlined by the inclusions of Nelly Korda and Angel Yin. Experience is a key trait for the team this year, with only Auston Kim and Lindy Duncan making their Solheim Cup debuts.
Anna Nordqvist returns to the Solheim Cup as European captain, having been the vice-captain in two previous editions.
