Next James Bond Odds: Could Callum Turner and Dua Lipa Make 007 a Family Affair?

By · Updated 4 hours ago

The search for the next James Bond is one of the biggest casting stories in years, and the betting markets have plenty to say about it. Callum Turner is odds-on to become the next 007, and in a twist the franchise’s writers couldn’t have scripted any better, his wife Dua Lipa is the favorite to sing the next Bond theme.

The couple married in London at the end of May. But the next Bond is just the start. Sportsbooks are also taking bets on the theme song, the next Bond girl and the villain, so here’s a look at the odds in every market, and the storylines behind them.

Why Callum Turner Is the Favorite

At -125, the betting market gives Turner around a 56% chance of landing the role, a big lead in a race this crowded. The British actor fits the profile Bond producers have traditionally gone for. He’s in his mid-30s, he’s proven himself in a period war role in Masters of the Air, and he has big-franchise experience from the Fantastic Beasts films.

He has high-profile support, too, with George Clooney, who directed him in The Boys in the Boat, naming Turner as his choice. Turner himself has refused to be drawn on the rumors, though he did once have a theory about why his name kept coming up. “I think that’s my mum,” he told PEOPLE in 2023. “She just puts that out there. So when my odds get higher, it’s all her putting the money on.”

He also has the seal of approval from a former 007. Pierce Brosnan, who worked with Turner on The Only Living Boy in New York, told Vanity Fair: “All the men who are on the list now are actors I admire. Callum Turner is someone I’ve worked with, and he’s so strong.”

According to Variety, Turner and Slow Horses star Jack Lowden appear to be the two frontrunners, with final screen tests believed to be taking place in London. That explains why Lowden (+325) is the closest challenger in the betting, with Jack Barton (+350) just behind. Reports claiming Turner has already landed the role have done the rounds online, but nothing has been confirmed by Amazon MGM. After the top three, there’s a big drop to Josh O’Connor at +800, and familiar names like Robert Pattinson (+1600), Aaron Taylor-Johnson (+2500) and Henry Cavill (+3300) are long shots.

Will Dua Lipa Sing the Next Bond Theme?

The top three in the betting are all British, and that fits recent history. Adele (Skyfall), Sam Smith (Spectre) and Billie Eilish (No Time to Die) all won the Oscar for Best Original Song, and two of the three were British. Dua Lipa already has a major movie song on her résumé with “Dance the Night” from Barbie, while Raye, at +200, set the record for the most BRIT Awards won in a single night in 2024.

The real question is what Turner’s casting would mean for his wife’s chances. Would Amazon MGM jump at the chance to have a real-life married couple front its biggest franchise, or would it be wary of anything that looks like a package deal? That’s the debate driving the top of this market.

Further down, there are some fun prices on huge names. Oasis are 8-1 after their blockbuster reunion, Lady Gaga is 10-1, and Taylor Swift is 40-1.

Next Bond Girl Odds

ActressOdds
Margaret Qualley+125
Anya Taylor-Joy+230
Zendaya+700
Sydney Sweeney+700
Florence Pugh+700
Lauren Sánchez+2000
Kate Winslet+2500
Gisele Bündchen+2500
Cara Delevingne+2500
Lily James+2500
Margot Robbie+3300
Scarlett Johansson+3300
Jennifer Lawrence+3300
Emma Stone+3300
Others+3300 and bigger

Margaret Qualley leads the way at +125, with Anya Taylor-Joy next at +230. Behind them, three of Hollywood’s hottest young stars, Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney and Florence Pugh, are all grouped together at 7-1.

The eye-catching price is Lauren Sánchez at 20-1. She’s married to Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, and Amazon now owns the Bond franchise through Amazon MGM Studios, which makes her one of the more talked-about novelty bets on the board. Lady Gaga (+4000) and Taylor Swift (+6600) also appear here, so both could, in theory, land a double role with the theme song.

Next Bond Villain Odds

ActorOdds
Cillian Murphy+230
Idris Elba+230
Barry Keoghan+350
Oscar Isaac+900
Rosamund Pike+900
Adam Driver+900
Peter Dinklage+1200

The villain market is the tightest of the lot. Oscar winner Cillian Murphy and Idris Elba share favoritism at +230. Elba is a fascinating one, having been linked with playing Bond himself for years, so a turn as the villain would be quite the twist. Barry Keoghan is close behind at +350.

Rosamund Pike, at +900, would be a return to the franchise. She played Miranda Frost opposite Pierce Brosnan in Die Another Day back in 2002.

The Mr. and Mrs. Bond Double

Combine the two favorites, and the price gets interesting. Callum Turner (-125) to be the next Bond and Dua Lipa (+175) to sing the theme work out at around +395 together, so a $100 bet would return about $495.

Not every sportsbook lets you combine specials like these, so check whether the parlay is available before you bet. If not, the two can be backed separately. It’s also worth thinking about timing. The next Bond could be named relatively soon, but theme songs are usually revealed much closer to release, so a theme song bet could take a long time to settle.

What Pierce Brosnan Thinks

Brosnan, who played Bond in four films between 1995 and 2002, says he’s watching the casting race like everyone else. “I’m just the man in the street who is eager to see who is going to play this epic role of cinematic history,” he told Vanity Fair.

He’s especially excited about Denis Villeneuve taking charge. “I think we are going to be blown away. I really do,” he said. “It’s going to be truly magnificent.”

He has also told GQ he hasn’t completely ruled out a return to the franchise in some capacity, though not as 007. Sportsbooks aren’t taking bets on that yet, but it’s one storyline to keep an eye on.

What We Know About Bond 26

Bond 26 is the first 007 film under Amazon MGM Studios, and it has a heavyweight team behind it. Denis Villeneuve is lined up to direct once he’s finished Dune: Part Three, Steven Knight is writing the screenplay, and casting director Nina Gold began auditions in the spring. Filming is expected to start in 2027, with a release most likely in 2028.
