Cowboys vs Colts Prediction, Odds and Picks for NFL Week 9
Two teams heading for disappointing seasons meet in Indianapolis in Week 9, but only one of them looks like it’s still fighting. The Dallas Cowboys are 3-5 after a painful overtime loss in Arizona, while the Indianapolis Colts are 2-6, on a four-game losing streak and already selling off key players. Dallas is a 5.5-point road favorite, with the total set at 52.5.
You can find the latest NFL odds for every game this week, but here’s why I’m backing the Cowboys to cover and the under, and how you can bet on Cowboys vs Colts.

Game Preview
Dallas Cowboys
Dallas let one slip in Week 8, losing 33-30 in overtime to the Cardinals after leading 17-3. Dak Prescott played a clean game, going 19 of 29 for 195 yards and a touchdown with no turnovers, but it wasn’t as productive as the Cowboys needed. Javonte Williams carried the ball 24 times but managed just 56 yards, and CeeDee Lamb was held to seven catches for 58 yards.
Still, Prescott and the offense did enough to put Dallas in a winning position before the collapse. The problem was on the other side, with Gardner Minshew throwing three touchdowns and Tyler Allgeier running for 147 yards. At 3-5, the Cowboys are facing down another bad season, and they badly need a get-right game. Indianapolis might be the perfect opponent at the perfect time.
Indianapolis Colts
There’s little to suggest there’s any fight left in the Colts. Indianapolis was hammered 42-7 by the Jaguars in Week 8, its fourth straight loss, and the front office is already moving on, with DeForest Buckner and Quenton Nelson both traded away. Jonathan Taylor is still a Colt for now, but his status for Sunday is unclear and he could be moved before the deadline, as could Josh Downs, who has reportedly requested a trade.
Daniel Jones hasn’t been able to recapture the lightning in a bottle he found before his injury last season. He went 19 of 28 for 144 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions in Jacksonville, and at 2-6, this season looks like a wash.
Cowboys vs Colts Predictions
I’m backing the Cowboys to cover the 5.5 points. Dallas has shown it can still score, and it was in control in Arizona before things fell apart. Against a Colts team that has lost four straight, traded two of its best players and could be without Taylor, I don’t see much life on the other side. The Cowboys need to win by six, and this is the kind of matchup where a team in need of a response can pull clear.
That same lack of fight is why I’m also going under 52.5. If the Colts can’t put up much resistance on offense, it’s hard to see where their share of the points comes from. Indianapolis managed just seven points against Jacksonville, and if the Colts stall again, Dallas would need to score well into the 40s on its own to push this over. The Cowboys’ defense gave up plenty in Arizona, but a Jones-led offense without its key pieces is a very different test, and I expect this one to be decided by Dallas controlling the game rather than a shootout.
- Cowboys vs Colts over/under pick: Under 52.5 (-110)
- Best bet: Cowboys -5.5 (-110)
- Cowboys vs Colts moneyline pick: Cowboys (odds to come)
