Thursday Night Football Pick: Jaguars vs Ravens Prediction and Odds for Week 9
The Jacksonville Jaguars head to Baltimore for Thursday Night Football, and the biggest story of the week is the Ravens’ quarterback situation. Lamar Jackson has been placed on injured reserve, and the betting market has reacted in a big way, with Jacksonville now a 7.5-point road favorite after early lines had Baltimore favored by three.
You can find the latest NFL odds for every game this week, but here’s why I’m backing the Jaguars to cover and the under, and how you can bet on Jaguars vs Ravens.

Game Preview
Jacksonville Jaguars
Jacksonville sent a statement in Week 8, routing the Indianapolis Colts 42-7 after building a 28-0 halftime lead. Trevor Lawrence needed just 14 throws to do the damage, going 10 of 14 for 210 yards and three touchdowns, and he now has 1,690 yards, 17 touchdowns and just four interceptions on the season. Bhayshul Tuten was the star of the day, with 104 rushing yards and a touchdown on the ground, plus 55 receiving yards and another score.
The defense remains the backbone of this team. The Jaguars came into the week with the NFL’s best run defense, and after holding the Colts to just seven points, they’re now allowing 17.3 points per game. At 5-2, Jacksonville arrives in Baltimore as one of the most complete teams in the AFC.
Baltimore Ravens
Baltimore is heading in the opposite direction. The Ravens have lost two straight, falling 35-13 to Cincinnati in Week 7 before a 36-10 loss in Buffalo, and they’re now 4-4. Third-string quarterback Joe Fagnano struggled against the Bills, completing 10 of 21 passes for 91 yards with an interception, and Baltimore never threatened after halftime.
With Lamar Jackson now on injured reserve, the Ravens’ offense has lost the dual threat that makes it so difficult to defend, and the picture behind him is just as uncertain, with Tyler Huntley’s status also up in the air. It’s not out of the question that Baltimore trades for a veteran quarterback, but bringing someone in and getting him ready on a short week would be a tall order. Derrick Henry is still dangerous, but he managed just 11 carries for 53 yards in Buffalo once Baltimore fell behind, and he’ll be running into the league’s best run defense on Thursday.
Jaguars vs Ravens Predictions
The market has flipped completely since Lamar Jackson was placed on injured reserve. Early lines had Baltimore as a three-point home favorite with a total of 49, but BetOnline now has Jacksonville as a 7.5-point road favorite, a 10.5-point swing, with the total down to 43.5. That tells you how much of the Ravens’ offense runs through Jackson, and how little the market thinks of the options behind him.
The moneyline market tells the same story. Baltimore opened as the favorite elsewhere, but since the Jackson news, books have been slow to put a moneyline back up while they work out where to price this one. Once that line goes live, the Jaguars are an easy choice here. It won’t be a big price, but it’s one of the safest legs you’ll find on the Week 9 board if you’re building a parlay.
Even after that move, I’m backing Jacksonville to cover. Without Jackson, Baltimore simply can’t generate enough offense. Joe Fagnano managed just 91 passing yards in Buffalo, Derrick Henry was limited to 11 carries once the Ravens fell behind, and Thursday’s matchup doesn’t get any easier for him. Laying 7.5 points means the Jaguars need to win by eight, but against an offense this short of answers, they have every chance.
I also like the under. Baltimore’s defense should keep this tight for a while, and the Ravens will want to shorten the game by leaning on Henry and the clock. Once the Jaguars’ pass rush and run defense take over, I expect Jacksonville to pull away late, but not in a shootout. At 43.5, the under fits the way this game is likely to play out.
