The honor has been handed out annually since February 1985 when Mel Gibson became the first star to win the award.

For much of the history of the People’s Sexiest Man Alive award, it has been handed out at sporadic times. However, a more common pattern has emerged in recent years, with every accolade being awarded in November since 2004. The winner will likely appear on the front cover of that month’s People Magazine.

Bad Bunny is a red-hot favorite to win the accolade for the first time in 2026 after a stellar year in the limelight, which included headlining the Super Bowl Half-Time Show.
