Rookie Corbin Carroll has been an absolute phenom for the Diamondbacks. He is hitting .298 on the season, with 16 home runs, ranking 3rd in the entire MLB with a .956 OPS. If Carroll continues to produce, Arizona will continue to be dangerous. 1B Christian Walker has also been crucial.
The Giants may have lost 10-0 to the Padres on Thursday, but that brutal defeat won’t erase the 10-game winning streak that came before it. During that span, they rose to 2nd-place in the division, thanks to a 3-game sweep of the Dodgers on the road. San Francisco will look to bounce back in this series against Arizona, with an opportunity to close the gap between the two teams fighting for 1st place in the NL West.
Prediction
San Francisco had a bit of a course correction moment in their loss against the Padres, but still enters this series as a scorching hot team. The Diamondbacks have also been playing great baseball, but face an uphill battle on the road here. The Giants should have another notable advantage with Logan Webb (3.11 ERA) on the mound against the inconsistent Zach Davies (7.11 ERA). I’ll take San Francisco to win this one.
