NCAAB: #11 Auburn vs #4 Tennessee Odds, and Picks (Feb 28)

By · Updated 2 months ago
  • Auburn bounced back against Georgia on Saturday, surging past to win 97-76.
  • Tennessee dominated Texas A&M, winning 86-51, and rising to 21-6 on the year.
  • These two teams last faced off on March 4, 2023, in a game that Auburn won 79-70.

Selection Sunday is just a few weeks away! Let’s look at the upcoming clash between the Auburn Tigers and the Tennessee Volunteers. They’ll fight for positioning in the SEC, with the conference title in sight.

Preview

Auburn bounced back from their loss to Kentucky with an easy win over Georgia. They’ll be aiming to carry their momentum into a significantly more difficult matchup at Tennessee. The Tigers have a chance at claiming a share of 1st place in the SEC if they can win this game, but need to find a way to overcome Tennessee’s defense. The responsibility to lead the way will fall primarily on leading-scorer Johni Broome.

Tennessee continues to play excellent basketball. They’ve won 10 of their last 12 games, and sit firmly as a 2-seed in the projected tournament field. The Volunteers are no strangers to regular season success, but have struggled to translate that into a deep tournament run. They’ll aim to change that, and can start by earning more experience against ranked opposition. Their last four games all come against top-20 teams.

Prediction

This should be another excellent matchup between ranked SEC teams. Tennessee should have a notable advantage in this game as the home team, but can’t overlook Auburn with a road trip to Alabama next on the docket. I see this game remaining close until the end, with the Tigers giving the Volunteers a run for their money. Ultimately, I see the home team in Tennessee pulling away to win it and cover the spread.

NCAAB Picks:
