Game Preview
LSU continued their incredible season, advancing past 1-seed Virginia Tech to make their first-ever championship game. Their success in their first two seasons under head coach Kim Mulkey is incredible, having gone from a middling SEC team to a team capable of winning it all. There’s credit due to the players as well, such as Sophomore Angel Reese, who had 24 points and 12 rebounds in the win over the Hokies.

Iowa did the impossible on Friday, defeating the defending champions, undefeated 36-0 South Carolina. They won in an instant classic, thanks to another stellar performance from superstar Caitlin Clark, who finished with 41 points, 8 assists, and 6 rebounds. Clark became the first player in NCAA history to score 40 points or more in back-to-back NCAA Tournament games. She’ll seek to do it once more against LSU.
Picks
Both of these two teams have put together incredible seasons. They have great coaches and stacked rosters, and either team could walk away from this game as national champions. The difference maker is the x-factor in Caitlin Clark. If she was able to lead Iowa to a win over undefeated South Carolina, I feel confident in her ability to do the same against a less dangerous LSU team. I’ll take Iowa to win it, 77-70.
