Preview

UCLA improved to 14-0 on Sunday, after triumphing over a scrappy Oregon State team. With multiple undefeated teams losing last week, the Bruins now stand as one of just two perfect squads. They are 4-0 against ranked teams, but now face their toughest stretch of the year. Their next three games will all come on the road, against #9 USC, #5 Colorado, and #19 Utah. They’ll shoot for the season sweep of USC first.

USC bounced back from their loss to UCLA with wins against both Oregon squads. Their only loss of the season came by 7 points on the road to the Bruins, who they now have a chance to get revenge on. The only other ranked team they played was in their first game, so their next three matchups against ranked teams will be telling. Freshman G JuJu Watkins has been sensational, ranking 2nd in the NCAA in scoring.

Prediction

We got a chance to see how these two teams matched up against each other just a couple of weeks ago, in the game that UCLA won 71-64. Typically, when a team wins by a single-digit margin at home, it means that game would be a toss-up on a neutral court and a single-digit loss on the road. I tend to agree with that logic here, though it’ll depend on how a young player in Watkins plays. I like USC to get a narrow win.

NCAAW Picks:

  • USC 73, UCLA 70 ()
