LSU bounced back from their Week 1 loss against Florida State, blowing past Grambling 72-10. Even though it was an FCS opponent, it was still be a good confidence builder for the Tigers. This week, they start out SEC play with a road trip to Mississippi State. Any more losses would eliminate them from CFP contention, so LSU will have high stakes each week. The offense will aim to build on their Week 2 success.

Mississippi State had a close call against Arizona in Week 2. They entered the game as 9-point favorites, and quickly jumped out to a 14-0 lead. Unfortunately, the Bulldogs took their feet off the gas, allowing the Wildcats to climb back into it. Ultimately, Mississippi State was able to win in overtime, but the game provided some areas to improve on. They’ll have a major test of their ability this week against top-15 LSU.

Prediction

This is a great test for LSU, who is difficult to pin down after two weeks. Their win over Grambling doesn’t really prove much, and their loss against Florida State could have been a product of their lack of ability, the Seminoles being incredible, or just Week 1 craziness. For the Bulldogs, they’ll also have a chance to see just where they stand in the conference. I don’t project a blowout, but I do see LSU winning and covering.
