- They’ll need to overcome the loss of now-Houston Texans QB C.J. Stroud.
- The Buckeyes nearly made the title game last year, and should be close again.
As the 2023-24 college football season quickly approaches, let’s take a look at Ohio State’s outlook and chances to make the College Football Playoff this year. They are expected to fight for the top spot again.
CFP Odds
Team News
Ohio State came up just short in last year’s CFP semifinals, losing to Georgia by one point. After missing the game-winning field goal attempt, the Buckeyes wound up watching the Bulldogs dominate TCU in the championship game. Motivated by the thought that it could have been them last year, Ohio State enters this year with even higher expectations. Unfortunately, they won’t have stellar QB C.J. Stroud this season.
The Buckeyes may have lost a key piece of their offense in starting QB C.J. Stroud, but they retained some great players as well. Superstar WR Marvin Harrison Jr. will likely make a massive impact for Ohio State again this season. They also have a handful of other incredible WRs, and a stellar RB duo in TreVeyon Henderson and Miyan Williams. Each year they bring in more top recruits. Ohio State will be good again.
Prediction
Ohio State has been a consistent presence in the CFP since its inception, but took a bit of a step backwards in their regular season performances over the past two seasons. They’ll have a good shot of getting back on track this year with another stacked roster. I could even see the Buckeyes winning it all.
