UCLA rebounded from their loss to Utah with a confident win over Washington State. Their defense was especially impressive, dominating a Cougars offensive line that had been very solid in their other games. They also turned Washington State over four times, making it difficult for them to fight back into it. On the other hand, the offense did just enough to win, but remains unimpressive and a concern moving forward.

Oregon State escaped California in a high-scoring matchup. QB DJ Uiagalelei had an exceptional game, completing 19 of 25 passes for 275 yards and 5 TDs. That being said, their defense was once again a cause of concern. They played well against Utah without Cameron Rising, but gave up 78 total points in their other two Pac-12 game so far this season. That needs to change if they want to stay in contention.

Prediction

I’m interested to see how Oregon’s State inconsistent defense performs against an offense like UCLA’s. If they play like they did against Utah, they’ll cement themselves as a contender to win the Pac-12. If UCLA runs up the score, things will be much more uncertain. Overall, I see this being a relatively low-scoring game, with both teams having above average defenses. I’ll take Oregon State to win this game at home.
