Preview

Washington State had a disastrous game last week. After scoring a TD on the opening drive, the Cougars allowed Arizona to score 44 unanswered points. They looked overwhelmed on offense, as QB Cam Ward struggled for the 2nd straight week. The defense also regressed, making Washington State look like a shell of the team they were in the first four weeks. There are a lot of questions to be answered for the Cougars.

Oregon came up just short in a stellar game against Washington, ultimately losing it 36-33. The close road defeat won’t eliminate the Ducks from CFP or Pac-12 title contention, but they’ll need to win out to have a shot at making the top-4. QB Bo Nix had another solid game, completing 33 of 44 passes for 337 yards and 2 TDs. Meanwhile, the running game was as elite as ever, picking up over 204 total yards on 5.1 ypc.

Prediction

After the way the Cougars played last week, this game went from highly anticipated to an expected blowout. That being said, I wouldn’t be surprised if Washington State makes this closer than people think. They have the talent to do so if they can get back on track, and always play Oregon very close on an annual basis. Ultimately, I see the Ducks pulling away with the win, but I’ll take Washington State to cover.
