My first choice is the Steelers to cover a 2.5-point spread. Why? Because their offense is more consistent than the Browns’, and their defense is much better. The Steelers rank 8th in the league in yards allowed per game (305.7) and 9th in pass defense (192.7 ypg). Rodgers more or less navigates the offense well, and I strongly believe this part of the Steelers’ unit is only going to get better. Though, that depends on the run game a lot, and if Warren continues to play as he did against the Bengals, Pittsburgh’s stock will go up.
Meanwhile, the Browns are one of the worst offenses in the NFL, while their defense is a bit better. Watson and the boys produce 266 yards from the scrimmage per game, 30th in the league, yet this team boasts a 2-1 record. Watson’s individual quality and defensive sparks are the main reason for Cleveland’s current form.
TJ Watt and the defense will deliver tremendous pressure on the Browns’ O-Line, and there won’t be too much space for Watson’s improvisation. This is one of the reasons to bet on the Steelers. The other would be their steady attack, and if nothing else, Rodgers’ arm, which still has enough aim to hit two or three TDs per game against solid defenses.
