It has been a historic season in the NHL in 2023, and that was marked by a first-time winner of the Stanley Cup. The Vegas Golden Knights finally landed a first major honor after defeating the Florida Panthers 9-3 in game five to secure a 4-1 series victory. Event Preview
A gripping 2022-23 NHL season was brought to a dramatic close on Tuesday evening, as the Vegas Golden Knights secured a first Stanley Cup honor. The Western Conference side was excellent throughout game five at T-Mobile Arena, eventually landing a 9-3 win over the Eastern Conference champions. Mark Stone scored three, and registered three assists in the win. However, attention will quickly turn toward next season.
The Golden Knights are currently listed as the second favorites to retain the title next term, and that could be a realistic chance after being very competitive in the playoffs since their very first season. Vegas made up for missing out on the playoffs last season by claiming a first franchise title this term.

However, the Boston Bruins are the early favorites for Stanley Cup glory next season. The Bruins were the standout team in the regular season, reaching 50 wins quicker than any other side in NHL history. They ended the campaign with record-setting totals for points and goals, but they were brushed aside in the opening round of the playoffs by the Panthers, despite holding a 3-1 advantage.
It was very much a case of letting the series get away from them, and they will be out to right that wrong next season. There will also be new head coaches at some realistic playoff contenders, including Peter Laviolette, who will be taking charge of the New York Rangers, and Spencer Carbery will be tasked with getting the Washington Capitals back into the post-season.

The Boston Bruins really had every chance of winning the Stanley Cup in 2023, but their capitulation in the opening round against the Panthers ended all hope. We expect them to come back even stronger in 2023-24, and we make them the solid value play to win the Stanley Cup 2024.
