Team News

The pressure will be on the Toronto Maple Leafs, as they come into game three looking to overturn a 2-0 series disadvantage. It has been a miserable start to this second round clash for the Leafs, who would have come into the series with huge momentum after claiming an opening round win over the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Toronto started the quicker of the two teams in game two at the Scotiabank Arena, as they scored twice in the opening period. However, they weren’t able to maintain that dominance in the following two frames. Alexander Kerfoot and Ryan O’Reilly both scored in the 3-2 defeat.

The Florida Panthers upset all the odds in the opening round, as they eliminated Stanley Cup favorites, the Boston Bruins. However, many expected them to fall at the second hurdle against the Maple Leafs. But, the Panthers now find themselves in an excellent position, as they could move to within one more victory of progression.

They will be boosted by having home advantage in game three after claiming success in game two on the road. The Panthers responded well after ending the first period down 2-1, as they scored twice in the second frame. Anton Lundell scored and registered an assist, while Aleksander Barkov and Gustav Forsling also found the net in the win.

Picks

This is a huge match in the series for the Maple Leafs, as they must show some kind of fight to remain in contention. However, they have won on each of their previous two visits to FLA Live Arena, and we could see them landing success to raise the stakes ahead of game four.
