Team News

The Toronto Maple Leafs remain in with a chance of reaching the conference finals, but they will be looking to achieve something that they have only done on one occasion in franchise history. Toronto lost each of the opening three games of this series, and must win the remaining four to force their way through to the Eastern Conference finals.

The Leafs kept their dream alive on Wednesday evening, as they battled to a 2-1 victory in Florida. Toronto scored their goals in the win in the second and third periods, but it was far from plain sailing. Mitch Marner ended the night with a goal and an assist, while William Nylander also found the net.

Meanwhile, the Florida Panthers will be aware that they will still have three chances to secure their spot in the conference finals. However, the pressure will certainly grow the closer they get to game seven. The Panthers missed their first chance to secure a place in the finals on Wednesday, as they could have completed a whitewash success over the Leafs in game four.

It wasn’t for the lack of trying in that game, as they forced Joseph Woll into 24 saves, but their only goal in response against the Leafs was netted in the final period. The effort was scored by Sam Reinhart, but it will be crucial that they bounce back with a solid performance in Toronto on Friday.

Picks

The manner in which the Maple Leafs claimed victory on Wednesday offers hope. They will have home advantage for game five in the series, and we could see them continuing their comeback by pulling the series back to 3-2.
