Los Angeles Galaxy is the most decorated team in the United States, with five MLS Cup wins in the franchise history. The problem is, however, that the last time Galaxy won the league was in 2014. Seven years later, the former giant isn’t doing great.
After playing 10 games in the 2023 MLS, Galaxy is second from the bottom in the Western Conference with just six points. That’s exactly three times fewer than San Jose Earthquakes. However, online bookmakers think Galaxy will beat the Quakes on Sunday. So, why’s that the case?

The No. 1 reason is that history teaches us that San Jose’s players aren’t that good. Last season, they finished bottom of the conference table. Their defense was their Achilles heel in 2022 – they conceded 69 goals in 34 games.
To patch things up at the back, they signed a new goalkeeper – Daniel from International (Brazil) – but he got injured after playing just two games.
As a result, their defense remains as leaky as in 2022. In the 2023 MLS season, they’ve played 11 games, allowing a total of 14 goals. There are only three teams in the West that have conceded more. One of those is Galaxy with 17 goals in 10 games.

Anything can happen in this game. Bookies see Galaxy as the favorite, which is understandable. However, we wouldn’t be surprised if the Earthquakes won on Sunday. Still, somehow the draw looks like the most likely outcome of this game.
