Match Preview
Gareth Southgate’s reign as England boss came to an end following a second consecutive EURO final defeat in the summer. The former boss deserves huge credit after taking the Three Lions to two finals, and a World Cup semi-final, but it seemed a fitting time for a new coach to try his luck in the hardest job in world soccer.
Lee Carsley was placed in interim control of the team after impressing during his stint with the U21s, and he has immediately put his stamp on the side with the call-ups of Angel Gomes and Morgan Gibbs-White. The Three Lions will be playing in Nations League B this year after suffering relegation from the top tier in the previous edition.

Like England, Ireland will get a new era underway this weekend when they host England, as Heimir Hallgrimsson will take charge of the team for the first team. His primary aim will be to reach a first major final since EURO 2016, as the Irish have failed to gain qualification to the last three international tournaments after sub-par performances in qualifying campaigns.
Their form this year leaves a lot to be desired, as Ireland have suffered two defeats in their four international matches. The latest of those was a 3-0 loss against Portugal in June. Meanwhile, Ireland have scored just twice in their last four matches, with both efforts coming in a 2-1 success against Hungary in Dublin at the start of June.
Ireland vs England Picks
England boast an excellent record in this fixture, and we could see Carsley enjoying an excellent start to his managerial career as Three Lions boss. It could be worth siding with the visitors to cover the spread on Saturday.
