It has been a season to forget for Leeds, but there is fresh hope around Elland Road following the arrival of Sam Allardyce. The Whites could still survive this term, but they will need to end their long winless streak this weekend. Leeds have lost each of their previous two, but there were certainly positives to be taken following their 2-1 defeat against Man City last weekend.
Scoring goals hasn’t been an issue for Leeds in recent weeks, as they have scored in their previous ten. However, they have also allowed 29 goals over that same period. But, the Whites have failed to score in their last two against the Magpies. They haven’t gone on a longer scoreless run against their rivals since January 1997.

Newcastle has enjoyed a season to remember in the Premier League, but their spot in next season’s Champions League is still far from assured. The Magpies sit three clear of fifth-placed Liverpool, and have the added bonus of having a game in hand. However, they will be looking for a return to winning ways this weekend after falling to a 2-0 home loss against Arsenal last Sunday.
Newcastle’s away form in recent months has been very strong, as they have won four of their previous five. However, they have now kept just one clean sheet in their previous 14 Premier League fixtures. Still, Newcastle has an excellent record at Elland Road, as they have won on 54% of their visits in the Premier League.
Leeds vs Newcastle Prediction
This is a cracking fixture to kick off the Premier League weekend on Saturday. We expect both teams to find the net in 90 minutes, but we would be prepared to take a chance on Leeds recording maximum points, as they will be much harder to break down under Allardyce.
