Event Preview
There wasn’t much of a race for the Golden Boot in 2022-23, as Erling Haaland finished clear of the chasing pack. The Norwegian finished clear with a staggering 36 goals in 35 games, setting the record for the most goals in a single season in the history of the competition. Haaland also boasted a ratio of 1.03, which is considerably the best in the Premier League era. With Man City likely to be a key player in the race for the title, it may be challenging to overlook the striker.
Harry Kane enjoyed one of his personal best campaigns in a testing season with Tottenham Hotspur. The England captain netted a stunning 30 goals in 38 games, and likely would have been closer to Haaland’s tally had he been playing in a team that was creating a higher number of chances. A stay at Spurs appears likely this summer, meaning that Kane will once again be key in the team’s push for a top-four finish.

Mohamed Salah endured a relatively quiet campaign in 2022-23, as he scored just 19 goals in 38 games. That was his lowest tally in the top-flight for the Reds, but a renewed bid for the Premier League title is likely in 2023-24. Salah has previously won the Golden Boot on three occasions since arriving at Anfield in 2017.
Marcus Rashford was reinvented during Erik ten Hag’s first campaign at the Theatre of Dreams, as the England forward netted 30 across all competitions. However, a push for the Golden Boot looks unlikely. At a price, Alexander Isak could be a decent selection, as the Swede scored an impressive ten in 22 league matches in his first Premier League campaign.
Premier League Top Scorer Prediction
The race for the Golden Boot is likely to involve the three players at the top of the betting this term. Haaland could be extremely challenging to oppose after an excellent first season in the English game, meaning that he would be our selection to win the top prize for the second season running.
