West Ham picked up a vital three points on Saturday to move up to 14th place in the league, three points above the drop zone. Arsenal lost ground to second-placed Man City following their draw at Anfield and now tops the table by just six points.

Game Preview

West Ham bounced back from a 5-1 hammering by Newcastle to register a 0-1 victory over Fulham on Saturday. A Harrison Reed own goal was enough to take all three points and ease the pressure on under-fire manager David Moyes but it was far from plain sailing. Fulham dominated the game but they were sloppy in front of the goal, and against a better team West Ham would probably have come away with a defeat. The Hammers will need to defend a lot better against an Arsenal side in great goalscoring form.

Arsenal squandered the opportunity to pick up all three points at Anfield and, by the final whistle, the Gunners were relieved to come away with a share of the spoils. Having raced into two nil lead by the half-hour mark the game seemed to be headed in only one direction. After an altercation between Granit Xhaka and Trent Alexander-Arnold, the momentum of the game swung. Mohamed Salah pulled one back just before halftime and despite the Egyptian missing a penalty early in the second half Liverpool was not deterred. Roberto Firmino pounced in the 87th minute and Arsenal only clung on for a point thanks to fine work by goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale.

Prediction

Arsenal cannot afford any more slip-ups if they are to win the Premier League this season. Thankfully it seems unlikely they will have to worry about that here against a poor West Ham side.
