Event Preview
The latest event on the DP World Tour is one of two competitions held in Germany, with the BMW International Open being staged since 2001. This competition was first contested in 1989, with the field competing across a total distance of 7,347 yards in the stroke play event.
Joaquin Niemann will be a red-hot contender this weekend. The 27-year-old has been a dominant force on the LIV calendar throughout recent memory, landing eight victories. He has shown his quality since returning to the European Tour, most recently finishing third at the Italian Open.
Angel Ayora is also likely to be among the leading contenders after an excellent fifth-place finish at the Italian Open at the end of June. Spanish star Eugenio Lopez-Chacarra won the event in Torino last weekend by a five-shot margin, and he will be chasing a third straight win on the DP World Tour this weekend.
Patrick Reed endured a more frustrating weekend in Italy, finishing only T45. However, the American has largely been consistent this term, winning twice on the European Tour and also finishing a respectable T10 at the PGA Championship in mid-May.
BMW International Open Picks
Kota Kaneko looks like an overpriced selection this weekend. The Japanese star was the winner of the Austrian Open in May, and followed up that strong showing with an impressive T11 at the Italian Open. His consistency makes him a dangerous contender, especially at odds of +6500.
