This tournament has been held annually since 1989, and it has been staged at its current home in all but two editions. On the only two occasions that it was held away from the Emirates Golf Club, it was staged at Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club in 1999 and 2000.
Bryson DeChambeau holds the record for the best aggregate score and par record, having finished with a total of 264 when scoring 24-under to claim success in 2019. However, Rory McIlroy is the most successful player in the history of the competition, having landed a third success in 2023.

McIlroy leads the betting for the event this weekend, as the Northern Irishman chases a fourth success. However, he will need a return to form after throwing away his chance of victory in dramatic fashion at the Dubai Invitational last weekend. But, this is a course that he knows well, and a victory appears to be a likely outcome.
Tommy Fleetwood held his nerve to claim victory at the Dubai Invitational last weekend, finishing a shot clear of the field. The Englishman is playing at a very high level at present, and he is hard to overlook. Tyrrell Hatton also has leading claims on the European Tour this weekend after finishing strong at the Sony Open last weekend to finish in a tie for 13th.
