Event Preview
The world’s best golfers will be in action in Ohio this week, as the Memorial Tournament gets underway on Thursday. A total yardage of 7,392 will be covered, with the stroke play event boasting a purse of $20 million.
Scottie Scheffler will be a red-hot favorite for success after winning each of the last two editions of the Memorial Tournament. However, the world number one is hitting the frame without winning in recent months, which would be a concern when supporting the American at such short odds.
Rory McIlroy will be in action at the Memorial Tournament for the first time in a couple of years. However, the two-time Masters champion is yet to shine in Ohio, with his best appearances seeing him finish T4. Ludvig Aberg’s consistency could make him the standout European chance after finishing in the top 25 on his last nine starts.
Si Woo Kim also brings excellent form into this weekend, while it is worth acknowledging that the South Korean has finished in the top 20 on five straight appearances in Ohio.
Russell Henley and Xander Schauffele should also both be prominent on the leaderboard this weekend, with the latter achieving T7 at the PGA Championship on his latest appearance.
Memorial Tournament Picks
Ben Griffin looks like a standout selection to go one better than his second-place finish 12 months ago. The American has finished in the top three on two of his last four starts, and his confidence should be high after taking a share of third at last weekend’s Charles Schwab Challenge.
