Series Preview

Miami completed a thrilling win over the Bucks in Game 5, after forcing overtime on a last second shot by Jimmy Butler. The Heat became the fifth 8-seed in NBA history to upset a conference’s top-seeded team, and the first to do it in just 5 out of 7 games. They’ll face another rising team in the Knicks up next, aiming to once again ride Jimmy Butler to a series victory, despite being the lower seed. Their defense will be key.

The Knicks completed their series in 5-games as well, dominating the dangerous Cavaliers. Center Mitchell Robinson out-rebounded Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen consistently, giving New York a major advantage in addition to their depth. They did a great job of keeping Donovan Mitchell in check, and will face another tough test against a scorching-hot Jimmy Butler. The Knicks will be relying on their depth.

Picks

The Knicks closed out the 2nd half of Game 5 against the Cavs without two starters, Quentin Grimes and Julius Randle. The status of those two, especially Randle, will make a major impact on this series. It’s unlikely that Randle will be 100%, but I also doubt he sits out entirely. Jimmy Butler has been playing fantastic basketball, but with Herro already out, the Heat lack depth. The Knicks will take full advantage.
