Texans’ loss to the Cowboys at home last week, 34-30, wasn’t because of CJ Stroud, but because of poor defense. What was the best defensive unit in the league last season can’t defend the pass and is 28th in the NFL, allowing 260 passing yards per game.
The loss vs. Dallas also came from a very bad run game, which produced just 62 yards. RB David Montgomery had only 24 yards on 10 carries, and the Texans totaled just 62 rushing yards.
Titans fought bravely in Baltimore, losing to the Ravens, 24-18. The difference this time was that Tennessee had 2 turnovers, while their rivals committed none. Cam Ward has to do better. The former No.1 pick threw for 222 yards, one pick, and one touchdown.
He has 726 yards in 4 games, with 3 TD passes and two picks. No matter the circumstances, these numbers show that Ward’s progress isn’t as planned. That puts additional pressure on him.
Texans vs. Titans Predictions
This game will be a perfect opportunity for the Texans to regain defensive confidence and for Stroud to build momentum. We respect Saleh and the Titans, but Ward isn’t competitive enough right now, even against a shaken Texans team.
