Series Preview

Golden State closed out the regular season red-hot, going 8-2 over their final 10 games. One of those games was a 24-point thumping of the Kings in Sacramento, which will provide them with a solid example for what to do in this series. The Warriors are perennially dangerous in the playoffs, and are once again the defending NBA champions. They’ll aim to earn their first back-to-back titles since the 2017-2018 seasons.

The Kings finally snapped their 16-year postseason drought this year, claiming the Western Conference’s #3 seed after a tremendous 48-34 season. They’ve been led by De’Aaron Fox, who once again raised his game to a new level, now averaging 25 ppg. Sacramento can finally celebrate making the playoffs, but they have their sights set on something bigger. They need to shake off their late-season struggles here.

Picks

This is a bit of an odd series. Despite the Kings being the 3-seed and the Warriors being the 6-seed, Golden State is heavily favored to win this series. Sacramento’s recently broken 16-year playoff drought, compared with the Warriors’ 6 finals appearances since 2015 are clearly making a huge impact. While they won’t be dominated, I’m not sure the Kings can win this series. I’ll take the Warriors to advance in this one.
