Preview
Colorado was one of multiple Pac-12 teams with a breakout season last year, joining the Trojans and Cougars. With the conference dissolving, the Buffaloes will have a chance to go out on a high after two decades of tumultuous results. Most of Colorado’s core from last year is intact, giving them a dangerous combination of experience and past success. They’ll have work to do with a brutal opening week matchup.
LSU won their first title in program history last season. They opened the year ranked #16, but managed to climb to the top spot. The Tigers proved any remaining doubters wrong in the tournament, after only a few chances to prove themselves against ranked opponents in the regular season. After adding top transfer Hailey Van Lith to an already stacked roster, LSU is considered to be the far-and-away best team in 2023.
Prediction
After a historic season for LSU, they open this year up with a game against a ranked non-conference opponent. They didn’t have many early tests like this last season, which creates a small possibility of a sluggish early-season start. That being said, the Tigers have an incredibly talented roster, and are unlikely to lose until they face another top-5 team. Colorado could keep it close early, but I expect LSU to win it.
NCAAW Picks:
- LSU 93, Colorado 71 ()
