Preview
New York had an embarrassing finish on Sunday. They had all but clinched the game, before a missed FG and bad penalties allowed the Jets to kick the game-winner. Though they lost in brutal fashion, the Giants also saw some encouraging signs. 2nd-year DL Kayvon Thibodeaux picked up 3 sacks, reaching 8.5 on the year. Meanwhile, the offense will have a chance to bounce back with Daniel Jones expected to return.
The Raiders cleaned house this week, firing coach Josh McDaniels and general manager David Ziegler. They enter a new era under Antonio Pierce and Champ Kelly, naming 4th-round rookie Aiden McConnell the starting QB this week over a banged up Jimmy Garoppolo. Las Vegas needs to decide if they will aim to capitalize on the talent of players like Jacobs, Adams, and Crosby, or flip them for assets to rebuild.
Prediction
The Raiders and Giants are in flipped situations for this week. It’ll be the Raiders without their starting QB, with rookie Aiden McConnell getting a chance to start, while the Giants are expected to have Daniel Jones back. That turns the tide in New York’s direction, but we still haven’t seen them succeed on offense with Jones this season. For now, I’m still favoring the Raiders to win what should be a defensive battle at home.
