Game Preview
Derek Carr played through a shoulder injury during the Saints’ 26-9 loss to the Buccaneers and didn’t look great doing so. The veteran quarterback was limited in practice this Wednesday but all signs point to him playing again this week. RB Alvin Kamara returned from suspension last week and looked back to his best, picking up 51 rushing yards on 11 carries and 13 receptions for an additional 33 yards.
The Patriots will want to forget Sunday’s defeat at the hands of Dallas as soon as possible. The Offense was barely able to gain any penetration and Mac Jones picked up a meagre 150 yards on 12 completions whilst also throwing two picks. New England also lost key defensive players to injury during their week 4 defeat, with Matthew Judon set to miss 2 months with a torn bicep and Christian Gonzalez out for the season with a torn labrum. The Patriots have re-signed former Pro-Bowler J.C. Jackson from the Chargers to replace Gonzalez.
Prediction
If Derek Carr is 100% healthy under center this week then the Saints should provide a tough test for New England. The Patriots struggled against a solid Dallas defense, and whilst New Orleans’ D isnt of that standard it is still great. The Saints should sneak this one, but it won’t be pretty.
